RJL.ninja is the personal website of RJ Lindelof. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit it or send a message, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. It covers https://rjl.ninja only; the other sites it links to have their own policies.

The short version

• The site measures how it is used with Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog.
• If you send a message, your name, email address and message are emailed to RJ so he can reply. The site itself does not store them.
• Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
• You can ask for your information to be deleted at any time through the contact form.

Analytics and session recording

Pages on this site load three analytics tools. They use cookies and similar browser storage to recognize a returning browser, and they receive standard technical details such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page you came from, and the pages you view.

• Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows which pages and sections are read. See the Google Privacy Policy, and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Microsoft Clarity captures how you use and interact with the site through behavioral metrics, heatmaps and session replay, so layout and usability problems can be found and fixed. Website usage data is captured using first-party and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
• PostHog records page views and interactions and keeps a profile for each browser under a random identifier, which is how repeat visits are recognized. See the PostHog privacy policy.

The homepage also measures its own loading speed (Core Web Vitals) and reports those numbers to Google Analytics and PostHog. The "page not found" page runs Google Analytics and PostHog but not Clarity.

The contact form

When you send a message, the form collects the name, email address, topic and message you enter. Before it is sent, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the visitor is a person rather than a bot, which involves your browser and connection details. The message then passes through a small Cloudflare service that emails it to RJ, with your address set as the reply-to so he can answer you. The site keeps no database of messages.

Your information is used only to read and reply to your message and to continue the conversation you started. It is not added to a mailing list.

Hosting and other services

• Cloudflare hosts the site and processes standard request data, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver it and protect it from abuse. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• RJ's photo and some links on the homepage are loaded from rjlindelof.com, and the image on the "page not found" page comes from rjl.codes. Both are RJ's own sites; your browser contacts them the same way it contacts this one.
• LinkedIn and the other sites this page links to receive nothing from you unless you follow a link.
• Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your own browser and never leaves it.

Sharing and retention

Information is shared only with the service providers named above, which process it on RJ's behalf, or when the law requires it. Messages are kept in RJ's email for as long as the conversation needs them. Analytics data is kept according to each provider's retention settings and then deleted by that provider.

Your choices

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use a content blocker. The site still works without analytics.
• Use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on linked above.
• Ask what information RJ holds about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, through the contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, and you can raise them the same way.

Children

This site is meant for business and professional audiences and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If the tools or practices described here change, this page is updated and the date at the top changes with it.
